Equity Market Summary
The market closed the week on a mixed note, with the NASI, N10 and NSE 25 inching lower by 1.2% w/w, 0.8% w/w and 0.5% w/w, respectively. On the other hand, the NSE 20 rose by 0.4% w/w.
Market activity expanded to USD 32.0m (+15.5% w/w). Safaricom dominated market activity, accounting for 40.2% of the week’s turnover. The counter’s price function weakened by 3.8% w/w to KES 35.10.
In addition, Equity Group and KCB Group tapered by 1.7% w/w and 1.5% w/w to KES 85.25 and KES 84.75, respectively. On the other hand, Co-op Bank and EABL jumped by 2.7% w/w and 1.9% w/w to KES 35.80 and KES 285.00, respectively.
Shri Krishana Overseas surged by 29.2% w/w to KES 13.95, closing the week as the top gainer. Conversely, Kapchorua Tea slid by 9.6% w/w to KES 339.25, emerging as the leading laggard.
Foreign investors were net sellers, with net outflows of USD 3.5m. EABL led the buying charge, while Safaricom led the selling charge. Foreign investor activity expanded to 31.5% from 29.3% in the prior week.
