These notices are VERY IMPORTANT for your protection as an investor and we advise you to read all of them.

  • Investing through a regulated entity like Standard Investment Bank affords a customer certain rights including the right:-
    • To receive title for any securities purchased.
    • To receive a statement of all fees and charges.
    • To information on the remuneration received by the market intermediary from third parties for the services provided, in relation to the Customer.
    • To ask for information on the experience, qualifications and disciplinary history of the market intermediary.
    • To receive interest on funds held by the market intermediary on the Customer’s behalf as agreed when the account is opened.
    • To receive payment for securities sold within a specified period.
    • To see the SIB’s conflict of interest policy.
    • To complain and to have that complaint dealt with fairly and promptly.
  • All official communication from SIB or its agents MUST be in writing either on SIB letterhead or an SIB e-mail address (email header) ending with @sib.co.ke
  • All payments from you to SIB MUST be made directly into SIB’s Bank Account or M-Pesa Paybill Account indicated in the Master Investment Banking Agreement or notified to you in writing by SIB.
  • SIB shall make payments ONLY to the named account holder. All payments to the Customer will be by way of cheque drawn in favour of the Customer and collected by the Customer, or by a bank transfer to an account designated by the Customer in writing, or by M-PESA payment to the M-PESA account of the Customer notified to SIB in writing.
  • Please ensure that you read and understand before signing to the terms and conditions of any SIB agreements. If in doubt or unclear about any item in any agreement, please seek independent legal advice prior to signing the agreement.
  • You are advised to verify the identity of the SIB Financial Attache by calling 254 20 2277000.
  • SIB Financial Attaches are NOT AUTHORISED to handle cash, cheques or any payments whatsoever on behalf of SIB or our Customers.
  • SIB Financial Attaches are NOT AUTHORISED to handle any title or ownership documents of the Customer including share certificates, bond certificates and unit trust certificates.
  • SIB Financial Attaches are NOT AUTHORIZED to provide any financial advice to Customers and SIB shall not accept any liability for financial advice that a Customer receives from an SIB Financial Attache.
  • SIB Financial Attaches are NOT AUTHORIZED to accept or place orders on behalf of Customers.
  • SIB Financial Attaches are NOT ALLOWED to request or accept tips, gifts or favours from Customers.
  • All SIB contracts MUST be signed in the presence of a designated SIB officer other than an SIB Financial Attache.
  • All investment decisions and choice of financial products should be based on your own independent judgment. SIB shall not be liable to you for any wrong decision about an investment or financial product.
  • Past performance of investments does not guarantee or indicate future performance.
  • Investing in securities or the stock market is risky and you may incur losses and an impairment of your investment.
  • As per your agreement with SIB, SIB shall be held harmless and fully indemnified for your failure to adhere with the above notices.
